Share Your Favorite Job-Search Tools

If you’ve discovered a website or book that has been especially useful in your job search, please share it through Comments on this post.  I’ll start.

CollegeGrad.com carries 2,000 pages of free entry-level job search advice, and over 50 informative 1-minute videos that provide tips on everything from writing an effective resume and cover letter as well as useful interview techniques.  The site also carries an excellent overview about all aspects of a career in public relations.  The site also has a Job Center where you can post your resume and check out job leads, although the latter are not plentiful in the PR category.

Like this blog, CollegeGrad.com sees PR careers growing faster than others, but entry-level positions will be very competitive.

CollegeGrad.com claims to be the #1 Internet job search tool for college students and recent graduates, and I tend to agree.

The University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire has a very nice online library through their Career Services Page:

    https://www.uwec.edu/Career/Online_Library/

I used their tips when prepping for career fairs and when writing cover letters. The library covers an extensive set of topics, from thank-you letters to illegal interview questions.

I hope this can help someone else as much as it has helped me!

For graduating students, I would suggest you visit:

All the best in your job search.

For those searching in Colorado, Andrew Hudson’s job list is the best resource for public relations and related fields. I know nothing better for Coloradians than this.

Jobs in other states are occasionally featured so you might get lucky and find something outside of CO.

Mediabistro.com is great for those looking for jobs in PR, marketing, advertising, journalism, etc. A large portion of the jobs posted are in NY, but other locations are covered as well.

Anybody looking for Chicago nonprofit check out npo.net. Most of the PR-related jobs are development, but there are a few others as well.
