International Stint Worth Delaying Search

December 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Q.  I am currently a senior in college and am interested in teaching English in Asia after I graduate.  I really want to do this but am worried about a job when I get back.  Do you think this is a wise thing to do or should I try to immediately get a job?   -MS

A.  Go to Asia.  The PR job market should be stronger next year, plus your international experience will enhance your resume.  While in Asia, you should seek ways to hone your PR skills, perhaps by helping your school or a local community group with public relations support.
